DSL has drawn upon its substantial experience and expertise of DROPS on offshore and onshore installations to create its new Dropped Objects Awareness and Prevention E-Learning course for the oil & gas drilling industry. Launched on 1st May, the course is designed to provide all installation personnel with a clear understanding of the key elements of DROPS, including Human Factors, Static and Dynamic Dropped Objects, Causes, Consequences, Management and the Prevention of Dropped Objects.
With an online course duration of between 1-2 hours, the course provides users with an in-depth awareness of Dropped Objects and their prevention benefitting the broad spectrum of installation personnel.
Managing Director Mike Smith commented, “Once again, as with our e-learning for drilling structures inspection, we gain a great sense of satisfaction from being able to channel our knowledge through our training academy into producing this type of course for the benefit of all in the Industry who may wish to draw upon it. DROPS awareness and the reduction of risk still has a long way to go and education/training is going to be an essential factor in the aims of the Industry so we are pleased to be making a positive contribution to that end. Our experience regarding DROPS prevention extends from our design process on new builds through to providing customers with solutions for the mitigation of risk from the issues we find during DROPS surveys.”
The new course closely follows DSL’s industry first Category I & II Drilling Structure Inspection E-Learning training launched in February.
DSL supports the industry from worldwide locations for the design & manufacture of drilling structures, rig upgrade & refurbishment, inspection services and recertification.
