Conoco Viking Vulcan Decommissioning
19th July 2017
- Projects
With assets in the North Sea reaching the end of their effective life cycle, operators are taking the decision to decommission the assets.in their entirety, with this comes the realisation that there
is a lot of pre works that can and need be completed prior to the HLV arriving on location to remove the asset from the sea bed.
It was decided by the client to prepare the assets to a state of readiness where they could be left in light house mode until such time that an HLV vessel could be sourced to remove the remaining topsides and jackets for recycling or disposal.
Derrick Services UK Limited were awarded 2 work packages on the Conoco Viking Offshore Gas Production assets one by Conoco Phillips the Operator and one by Royal Boskalis Westminster the Heavy Lift contractor.
This approach created a one team work ethic which DSL believe is critical to implement a safe cost effective completion to any Decommissioning Project.
