With assets in the North Sea outliving their original life cycle due to new Hydro-Carbon retrieval technologies, operators are taking the decision to upgrade and simplify their assets, process and control systems.
DSL were awarded an EPC contract to complete Process simplification, controls upgrade and structural repairs to two Normally Unattended Installations (NUI’s) DP6 & DP8 which form part of the Morecambe Bay production complex in the South Irish Sea.
To do this they partnered with a Design & Engineering house for the FEED and Process design & engineering. The project work scope involved the simplification of systems on board these two platforms to enable the client to achieve a higher level of automation and increased production efficiency and minimise routine & intervention visits to the assets.
In addition, there was also a partial topsides Decommissioning scope i.e. redundant vessels, drilling Sub Structure etc.
Throughout the project over 500 tonnes of scrap steel was removed from the asset

DSL completed in excess of 300,000 man hours in total without any LTI’s on this project, over 6234 of these hours were actual On-rope hours also without any LTI incidents.
